Sometimes when seeking to give praise to one person in football, it can automatically question another one and even bring doubt around their job.

That appears to be what’s happened with Bild am Sonntag and their Eden Terzic claims. According to the newspaper, three Premier League clubs are ‘thinking about’ appointing the Borussia Dortmund manager, and one of those is Tottenham Hotspur.

Of course, Tottenham already have a manager, and despite the season not ending as well as it might have, there’s no serious signs that Ange Postecoglou is surplus to requirements.

Terzic, relatively young in management at 41, has Dortmund fifth in the Bundesliga and Bild themselves point out that just before Christmas he was in danger of getting the sack.

A Champions League run to the final can of course paper over a lot of cracks but it can’t change reality.

Terzic will deserve, and get, a lot of praise should Dortmund beat Real Madrid in the final, yet this all feels like an effort to hype that praise and drag in Premier League clubs to help.

The other two clubs linked along with Tottenham are Newcastle United and West Ham.
