It’s fair to say Gabriel Jesus had a good comeback when featuring in Manchester City’s game last night.

The Brazilian had only made one appearance this season, as he was injured in the opening fixture of the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now after missing nine matches during his recovery, he was brought on in the second half against Olympiacos, and managed to score a goal in the 3-0 win.

Gabriel Jesus spoke to Esporte Interativo after the game, and talked about the feeling of coming back before expected.

“I’m happy, man. I won’t lie that I was apprehensive,” Gabriel Jesus told Esporte Interativo.

“Obviously, everyone at the beginning, when they feel injury, get upset. I’m no different, I got it a lot. It was a little of a serious injury by having caught the tendon, third degree. So it took a while. However I came back before the estimated time. So I’m happy to be able to recover sooner, but I worked very hard, I worked every day to recover. At home, at the club, at home. So you see all the recovery work, train, come to the game, have the chance, play it cool and manage to score. I’m very happy.”

Even before making his comeback, Gabriel Jesus had already been called up by the Brazilian national team for the matches against Venezuela and Uruguay in the next international break.

The striker claimed he’s been in contact with manager Tite, and guaranteed that he’d be featuring a couple of more times for Manchester City before he flies to South America.

“Well, I had the opportunity to be called up in the last one, I was cut out because of an injury. Obviously we talk. The physical coach Fábio calls, Tite sends a message and calls to find out how the recovery is going. I was very honest, I said I was fine, but it had been a serious injury. Not that much serious, but complicated, dangerous and deceiving. But I’d definitely play two or three games. I played today, I could have 30 minutes of play. On Sunday I believe I can play more. And the confidence continues.”

Pep Guardiola’s side now only have one more challenge before the international break, and that’s a Premier League clash against Liverpool in Manchester on Sunday.
