It’s hard to see how Tiemoué Bakayoko comes back from his latest performance with AC Milan, already chastised for his poor start to the season.
Subbed off at half-time by Gennaro Gattuso following a torrid first-half display against Real Betis in the Europa League, the Chelsea loanee was described as ‘completely lost’ by Gazzetta dello Sport, who compared his performance to the ‘dark side of the moon, where the sun doesn’t shine’ when contrasting it to William Carvalho’s.
Labelled “The Worst”, and given a 4.5/10, he was one of two players to get that grade, as former Sunderland forward Fabio Borini was seen as equally awful.
Corriere dello Sport are even harsher with Bakayoko, claiming that ‘when the ball reaches his feet, you can already count it as being lost’, giving him a 4/10 for his overall performance, incidentally the same as what they gave his manager for his choices ahead of and during the game.
With all the rumours surrounding his future, especially with Ligue 1 clubs allegedly looking in his direction to try and help him save his season, it would be a miracle if Milan triggered the €35m option in his contract to make the move permanent.In fact, we’ll go right out and say it: it’s not going to happen. After all this, it just can’t.
