Barcelona’s planned move for Arsenal youngster Miguel Azeez is now seen as ‘almost impossible’, with the player ‘already looking for other alternatives’.

That’s according to Sport, who say that despite the Catalans having negotiated a deal with the player a few weeks ago it is unlikely he will end up at the Nou Camp.

They report that the operation is currently ‘at a standstill’, with Barça Atlètic coach, Rafa Márquez asking the club to focus on other areas of the team for now.

He’s made the decision to partly abandon a move for the Arsenal youngster after assessing his squad in pre-season and being made aware of the ‘financial precariousness’ at the club.

Azeez had been setting himself up to leave Arsenal on a free and join Barcelona after spending last season on loan at Ibiza and Wigan. Barcelona saw him as a ‘market opportunity’ and pushed ahead to sign him.

That’s now been put on the backburner, though, as Márquez has other ‘priorities’ for his squad and wants those addressed first, leaving Azeez looking at his other options this summer.
