Earlier on Tuesday, we covered a story claiming that Newcastle United were pushing to close a deal for Sven Botman.

That’s because they are still waiting on the Dutchman to give them an update on whether he wants to move to Tyneside or not.

It’s no secret the centre-back would rather go to Milan than Newcastle, especially because he would be playing Champions League football next year, but the Serie A side have yet to find an agreement with Lille.

The Ligue 1 side would rather sell to the Magpies, who are happy to pay more for the defender, but Radio Rossonera explain that could be on the rocks too.

That’s because ‘the relationship between Lille and Newcastle is slowly deteriorating’, and the Premier League club ‘would like an immediate response’ from Botman.

The player is ‘doing everything’ to push for a Milan move, ‘leaving the English club on hold’, but Lille are also on a time crunch, as they want to sort out their finances as soon as possible.

This isn’t great news for Newcastle, but there’s still a bit more time for them to get their man, although it only seems like that will happen if the Italians fully back out.
