Brighton’s €15m demands for Neal Maupay are considered ‘excessive’ by Salernitana but talks continue over a potential deal.

That’s according to Cronache Salerno and Corriere Dello Sport, who both provide small updates on the Italian side’s interest in the striker today.

Cronache kick things off by explaining that Salernitana are becoming bigger protagonists in the striker market this summer, with manager Morgan De Sanctis on the hunt for a new forward.

He is ‘back on the attack’ for Hertha Berlin’s Krzysztof Piątek and Brighton’s Maupay as well as securing potential agreemens for other forwards.

They are facing competition from Borussia Dortmund for Piątek, so there has been a ‘relaunch’ for the Brighton striker in the interim.

However, initial talks with the Seagulls have seen them put a €15m price tag on Maupay’s head. That’s a figure they ‘remain firm’ on but is considered ‘excessive’ by De Sanctis.

Corriere don’t say the same but add that ‘negotiations continue’ with Brighton over a potential deal. It seems likely they are over that €15m demand from Graham Potter and co.

There’s work needed for any deal to happen this summer, then, with the Seagulls asking price prohibiting anything happen quickly.
