Besiktas have stepped up their pursuit to sign Leeds United forward Chris Wood, report Turkey’s Fotomac.

Fotomac say Besiktas are working hard to ‘finalise’ a deal for the Leeds United star, as they continue their search for a forward. The Turkish champions have continually been linked with a move for Valencia’s Alvaro Negredo, but are looking at alternatives to the Spaniard.

Leeds United have also been credited with Negredo interest, and the Spanish striker would prefer a move to England.

It’s claimed Besiktas scouts have been watching Wood for some time, and are impressed with the Leeds United striker. Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has reportedly given the green light to the club’s board to sign Wood, and talks are set to continue.

The Leeds United player could be an ideal signing for the Turkish club after Gunes recently said his side needs a target man in his squad. Wood finished last season as the Championship’s top scorer, which has brought him to the attention of others.

Besiktas would likely be in for a shock when learning the player’s real valuation, as Fotomac use Transfermarkrt to claim his ‘market value’ is €6m.
