Swansea City are the latest favoured UK destination for Alvaro Negredo. The Welsh club have been repeatedly linked over the past few days, although it’s not entirely clear what grounds the claims have.

Fernando Llorente remains at Swansea, and as long as that remains the case, signing Negredo doesn’t seem to be a priority for the Premier League club, nevertheless, Valencia and the striker would be keen.

Spain’s El Desmarque report Besiktas and Swansea City have the means to pay Negredo’s high salary and both would be ‘willing to make an effort’ to sign the player. The finances rule out others including Espanyol and Leeds United.

Negredo isn’t keen on Besiktas, and would prefer a return to the Premier League. El Demsarque say the player’s agent Juanma Lopez will this week hold a meeting with Valencia to discuss the transfer.

It’s not only Swansea City keen, with El Desmarque claiming Negredo still has a good reputation in the Premier League, and there’s ‘no shortage of suitors’.

Given the lack of actual attempts to sign him this summer, that may be wishful thinking.
