Jan Vertonghen will be a free agent in the summer, if Tottenham Hotspur decide against offering him a new deal.
Two days ago, DH in Belgium reported the 32-year-old’s desire is to continue with Spurs, but that’s only possible if his employer hands him a contract extension.
Tuttosport on Saturday focus on the options available for Inter Milan to take players on free transfers. Along with Manchester United’s Tahith Chong, Vertonghen gets a mention.
It’s claimed the Serie A side will keep an eye on the Tottenham centre-back in the coming months.
The newspaper states it is necessary for the Nerazzurri to ‘pay close attention’ to the Belgium international’s situation at the north London club, at least until he signs an extension (it’s unclear whether or not Spurs will offer Vertonghen a new deal).
José Mourinho’s defender could be a ‘classic reinforcement’ for Inter as Antonio Conte’s prefer to play with three at the back. He could also team up with international teammate Romelu Lukaku.
It’s worth mentioning that Tuttosport doesn’t provide any strong indication that Inter are keen on Vertonghen. All they state is that they will monitor his situation closely.
