Brazilian side Fluminense are reportedly just awaiting for an official document from Arsenal so midfielder Wellington Silva can leave the club.
As reported by Globo Esporte today, the player is still training with the Rio de Janeiro side, but shouldn’t play this weekend as the move is getting closer ‘with every passing hour’.
Arsenal will be using their buyback option over the winger so they can sell him to Bordeaux. The Gunners will be paying around US$4m, but Globo don’t confirm how much Arsenal will then be getting from Bordeaux.
Arsenal signed Wellington in 2011 on a €4m deal. Loans then followed at Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Murcia, Almeria and Bolton Wamderers.
The return to Fluminense happened summer, and it wasn’t a surprise to see the player leaving Arsenal for a Brazil return.
The 24-year-old ended up showing good form in Brazil, and scored seven goals this season. That’s what caught Bordeaux’s attention, which seems to have led to the complicated Arsenal deal.
