Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles has a contract expiring at the end of this season and Beşiktaş want to sign him in the winter market.

At the weekend, Sabah reported the Turkish club are aiming to sign the centre-back by paying a ‘small fee’ to the Magpies.

Sports Digitale journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state the Black Eagles have an agreement in place with the Newcastle player.

He further states an ‘offer was made’ to Eddie Howe’s side, to find an agreement for the 30-year-old’s transfer. Sabuncuoğlu doesn’t mention the fee proposed by the Istanbul club, who are waiting for a response from Newcastle.

Fanatik state Beşiktaş’ management have been ‘working hard’ to take the defender away from the Tyneside club.

It’s claimed Lascelles, for his part, is willing to make a switch to Beşiktaş and has ‘asked for permission’ from Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Fanatik journalist Gökmen Özcan says Beşiktaş are ‘very close to completing’ the deal to sign Lascelles for an ‘affordable price’.

The Englishman has made 22 appearances this season and lost his place in Newcastle’s starting lineup, after Sven Botman returned from an injury last month.

Despite the Turkish confidence, given Lascelles is a used member of the squad, it’s understandable if Newcastle United are reluctant.
