Last week, reports from the European media claimed that Grêmio were interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo.

With the player set to leave the Reds at the end of his loan spell from Juventus, it was claimed his former club in Brazil were keen on having him back.

It turns out that as the local media now shares an update on this situation, it’s claimed that Grêmio ‘totally rule out’ signing Arthur.

UOL writes the club even made an approach to know about the midfielder’s situation, as he’s ‘preparing to leave Liverpool’. However, they thought the cost of his signing would be too high, and given that they already have many options in midfield, they gave up on making any efforts for that arrival.

It’s also claimed that once Arthur returns to Juventus, he should stay in Europe, even though it’s not known what will happen to him in the summer window.

Since joining Liverpool last summer, the 26-year-old has only made one appearance. After recovering from surgery, he’s only training with the Reds’ U-21 squad.
