On Wednesday evening, we covered claims from RMC about Manchester City and Ismaël Bennacer.

Just like had been reported a couple of weeks ago by FootMercato, it was stated Pep Guardiola has been driving interest from the English club, and had now ‘called the player personally to explain his project to him’.

PSG were also credited with interest in the AC Milan player, and L’Equipe carry that on in their Thursday edition. The French newspaper state Bennacer ‘arouses the interest’ of the Ligue 1 champions, and the club are surveying the situation, including how they stand against the competition.

L’Equipe believe PSG have ‘privileged’ contact with the player’s agent Moussa Sissoko, and they’ll hope that can give them an advantage.

‘Discussions’ have already commenced.

Manchester City’s interest is relayed again, with RMC being given direct credit, and the player’s €50m release clause is backed up.

However, PSG don’t want to pay that high a figure. They want a right back, left back, perhaps a central defender, and then a midfielder, so their budget is tight, especially having already made Mauro Icardi’s move permanent.

Therefore, PSG’s chase is ‘complex’, and while they may feel an agent advantage, if Manchester City are ready to pay up that could seal things.
