As Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves continues to be one of the targets that Barcelona have for the next summer, outlet Marca today features a new story on this pursuit.

Their report claims the player ‘divides’ opinions at the Camp Nou side, since there are those in favour and against his signing.

It’s said there’s big wish from club president Joan Laporta, especially because he has a good relationship with Jorge Mendes and met the agent of the Wolves star on ‘numerous occasions’.

Since the representative knows ‘how far’ Barcelona can go, money ‘shouldn’t be a problem’, as it’d all be lined up by the Portuguese official.

The problem is that the Catalans’ sports management are not very sure about Neves.

They need a defensive midfielder who can replace Sergio Busquets, and see the Wolves player as someone who’d work better in a midfield duo, which is something they don’t use.

Even Xavi is said to have Martín Zubimendi as the ‘perfect replacement’ for Busquets, and that only shows the pursuit for the Portuguese star is not that certain.

Meanwhile, at Sport, they sound more confident about that transfer. They refer to it as a ‘very advanced operation with both the club and the player’, saying it’s ‘practically closed’.

Even in case Barcelona can’t afford the signing, Wolves are said to be interested in a swap in case players like Franck Kessie or Nico Gonzalez are put on the table.

Neves is said to be ‘crazy’ about signing for Barcelona and is waiting for the ‘ok’ for the move. However, just like said by Marca, Sport also says Xavi isn’t sure about the signing, and the lack of green light from the manager is what is holding the deal up.
