The transfer of Mislav Orsic from Dinamo Zagreb to Southampton is off, according to reports from Croatia.

Germanijak writes that the move seemed just like a ‘formality’ yesterday, since the player had already agreed terms with Saints and was waiting for the switch to be official.

However, it’s claimed that the talks between Southampton and Dinamo Zagreb reached a ‘dead end’, as they can’t find an agreement regarding the transfer price, and have ‘broken off’ for now.

Representatives from the Premier League side reportedly went to Maksimir on Tuesday, and despite a meeting lasting until late evening, the Croatian side ended up ‘shocked’ with the low offer of just over €5m made by the St. Mary’s club.

And despite the belief that an agreement was still possible on Wednesday, that did not happen, as Southampton ‘remained firm’ with their initial offer, which didn’t even get close to the initial request of €7m plus bonuses.

Germanijak leaves a bit of hope by saying ‘nothing is definitely over’, despite recent news from the English media claiming Everton and Nottingham Forest are also interested in the player, but makes it clear the transfer is ‘on hold’ unless Southampton ‘change their mind and increase their offer’.
