Atlético Madrid are targeting a move for Leicester City’s Timothy Castagne as they look to solve their issues at right-back.

That’s according to Sacha Tavolieri, who says the Belgian is Atlético’s choice to replace Sime Vrsaljko.

He reports that the Spanish side have made ‘several offers’ to Leicester for the full-back, but the structure of the deal doesn’t suit the Foxes at this moment in time.

This has led to something of an impasse as the ‘economic situation’ at Atlético does not allow them to meet Leicester’s demands right now.

However, that could change if there is a departure from the Wanda Metropolitano, at which point things ‘could accelerate’.

At that point, Leicester could be convinced into a sale as it’s said they themselves need to sell before they can buy this summer.

The nature of the bids from Atlético isn’t mentioned, so it’s unclear at this moment in time what sort of price they would want to pay for Castagne or what figure Leicester want to sanction a sale.

At the moment, it all depends on Atlético selling an unnamed player first, at which point it seems a transfer will become more likely.
