Just a few days ago, we had been covering claims from Argentina saying Marcos Rojo would have to pick a club in case he stays in the country.

But since the player has a contract with Manchester United running until 2021, perhaps his time in Argentina won’t last so long.

TNT Sports brings a story today with ‘the truth’ about his future. And things don’t look very good for either Boca Juniors or Estudiantes.

First regarding the Buenos Aires side, TNT writes that the club have ‘ruled out’ the possibility of signing Marcos Rojo for now.

Regarding Estudiantes, they take the quotes from club manager Leandro Desabato.

As covered by us yesterday, he’s said it’s ‘likely’ that Rojo will have to return to Manchester United.

The centre-back’s loan deal with Estudiantes expires at the end of the month, and what’s been scaring Argentine clubs are the rumours that the Red Devils would demand €12m for his permanent transfer.

That’s a lot for them, and if that is the case, then much like Chris Smalling at AS Roma, a return appears to be on the cards.
