Fulham are set to pay Sporting some extra €1m for the transfer of João Palhinha, according to reports from Portugal.

Newspaper O Jogo today explaining that with the Whites’ stay in the Premier League guaranteed, a little bit more from that summer transfer is being triggered.

With 31 games played, Fulham stand in 9th on the table with 45 points. Meanwhile, Everton, who are the 18th, have 28 points after 32 matches.

The Whites had already spent €20m to sign the midfielder at the start of the season, and this is just another small chunk of money going Sporting’s way.

When the move was announced back then, it had been claimed there would be €2m in bonuses, so it’s not yet clear what the other million stands for. Sporting also kept 10% of a future transfer.

The truth is that João Palhinha ended up doing great in his first season for Fulham, and the investment was probably worth it.

Right now, he’s valued by Transfermarkt at €35m.

The midfielder has 33 appearances for the Whites so far, and all Premier League games he missed were because of yellow cards suspensions.
