For the past few days, multiple claims have stated Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho is expected to make a switch to Al-Duhail.

Beşiktaş have entered the battle with the Middle East club to sign the 31-year-old, according to UOL. The transfer window in Turkey is open until September 15th, three days before the window closes in Qatar.

Despite the approach from Beşiktaş, the report states Al-Duhail have found an agreement with Aston Villa for the attacking midfielder’s transfer.

Hernán Crespo manages the Qatari side and it’s said they will sign the Brazil international on a season-long loan deal, with an option to extend it for another year. UOL further add the South American is already in Qatar to sign his contract with Al-Duhail.

The report doesn’t mention if the deal includes an option/obligation to buy or the loan fee Unai Emery’s side will receive.

Coutinho initially joined Aston Villa from Barcelona on loan in January 2022 and his stay there was made permanent later that year. The former Liverpool man lost prominence after Unai Emery was appointed as Steven Gerrard’s successor at Villa Park last October.

The player, who has made two appearances for Aston Villa this season, will be able to enjoy more game time at Al-Duhail.
