Boca Juniors’ wish to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton on a permanent deal continues to be a hot topic in the Argentine media.

Local outlets have already made it clear that the Buenos Aires side have no buying option over the player, but his impressive start at the club is keeping all these stories alive.

Brighton bought Mac Allister from Argentinos Juniors back in January, and only loaned him out because he couldn’t get a work permit for the Premier League.

Now Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici has spoken to the local media about transfers, especially the rumours which have been linking Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the club.

And there was time to speak of Mac Allister as well. He confirmed that the loan deal didn’t have any cost, but doesn’t include a buying option either.

“We wanted to buy Alexis for six million dollars and Argentinos Juniors said no,” said Angelici (via El Intransigente).

“I have a very good relationship with Brighton. They asked us, we told them he was a very good player and they bought him for eight million plus 15% of a future sale. They didn’t want to loan him here, but as the passport didn’t come, we offered a transfer without charge and without option.”

It sounds pretty unlikely that Brighton would sell Mac Allister before using him, unless he really fails to get an European passport. It’s been a while since the Argentine press last had an update on this process.
