Inter Milan’s efforts to bring Romelu Lukaku back from Chelsea got a new update on Monday evening.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed the Nerazzurri have now presented a ‘counter-offer’ to the Blues, after their first approach for the player didn’t result in a deal.

Inter Milan’s initial attempt had been worth €5m, with Chelsea demanding €10m. Now the Serie A giants have reportedly put €7m on the table, as they believe the ‘cross’ between the offer and the request could be enough to convince the Stamford Bridge side.

The Italian club’s intention is to land Lukaku on a loan deal, and to that amount, a bonus would still be added. That’s obviously quite far from the €113m the Blues spent to take him last summer, and that’s why the London side are expected to continue playing hard in the talks.

Even though other outlets from the Italian media are still to report this new bid, they’re already mentioning a ‘video conference’ between the clubs for a potential new offer in the coming days.
