Over the past couple of days, the idea that newly appointed Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri could go for Ruben Loftus-Cheek has grown.

The Italian manager was a big fan of the imposing midfielder during his time at Stamford Bridge, using him more often than not, but his successors weren’t quite of the same mind.

That’s why Loftus-Cheek was sent on loan to Fulham this season, where he was unable to stop them from getting relegated back to the Championship.

Regardless of his team’s outcome, however, the 25-year-old has never left Sarri’s mind, which is why he’s now become a ‘dream’ of Lazio’s this summer.

That’s what Corriere dello Sport refer him as on Thursday, as they explain the manager ‘may be the key to attracting Ruben Loftus-Cheek’ to Rome.

However, whatever happens, a deal could only come about ‘with the loan formula’.

Gazzetta dello Sport corroborate Lazio’s desire in their own article, stating the Chelsea midfielder is now ‘in pole position’ ahead of any other midfield targets.

The desire is surely there, but can they pull it off? It could all depend on those in charge at Stamford Bridge.
