Turkish newspaper Yeni Asir report Trabzonspor are interested in signing Gent midfielder Giorgi Chakvetadze, but they face competition from West Ham United, Bordeaux and Roma to sign him.

The 20 year old is reportedly a transfer target for Trabzonspor, as the Super Lig club will look to strengthen their squad in the summer.

However, Yeni Asir report the Karadeniz Firtinasi will find it difficult to sign Chakvetadze because of reported interest from the likes of West Ham. The Hammers will have the financial advantage, making it difficult for the Turkish league leaders.

It’s reported Trabzonspor board are looking to act quickly to sign the player but they are currently waiting for Gent to drop their asking price, which is around €5-6m. That figure wouldn’t be a problem for West Ham.

Chakvetadze has made 12 first-team appearances for the Belgian side this season, providing two assists. He’s also won seven caps for his country Georgia, scoring five goals.

His contract with Gent will expire at the end of June 2023.
