On Tuesday, we covered a piece from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo regarding Wolverhampton Wanderers’ plans for Gonçalo Guedes this summer.

It was claimed that with the winger’s recent knee surgery, Wolves decided to leave his sale aside and accept a new loan with Benfica.

However, as newspaper A Bola now writes about the 26-year-old, it’s claimed that the Eagles may not actually be that keen on the signing.

It’s said a new loan is still ‘on the table’ for Benfica, but that subject has ‘lost urgency’ as the club haven’t taken a decision about it yet.

A Bola explains that despite the emotive ties between Guedes and the club, they must consider that he has a huge salary and is recovering from a serious injury.

Benfica now want to watch the player’s physical progress in the coming months, and only then will decide about negotiating a new deal with Wolves.

It’s probably fair to say that in case the Eagles decide against the signing, then the Molineux side should have trouble finding Guedes a new club in the summer, as his salary will always be a problem.
