Manchester United appear to have won the race for Napoli defender Kim Min-jae, ‘despite Newcastle’s last-minute attempts’ to hijack the move.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who believe Manchester United remain in the hotseat for the sought-after centre-back.

They explain that Napoli are already on the hunt for a replacement for Kim, who has been a key player for them this season as they’ve won the title in Serie A.

Corriere dello Sport report the South Korean is ‘preparing to say goodbye’ to the Italian club as there is a release clause in his contract which can be activated from the 1st of July to the 15th of July, but only for sides outside of Italy.

Manchester United have ‘booked him for a while’ and that remains the case despite ‘Newcastle’s last-minute attempts’ to hijack the deal.

The belief is that Kim is very much out of the door and on his way to Old Trafford, so much so that Napoli are already moving to find replacements for the player.

They have a long list of potential players to move for once Kim has gone to Manchester United and will be ready to move once the deal is finalised.

That seemingly won’t happen until the beginning of next month when his clause activates and United make their move, having reportedly held off a late move from Newcastle to ensure the player is theirs.
