Robin Olsen has been expected to continue at Everton beyond this season, with the goalkeeper seeming relatively settled and Carlo Ancelotti insisting the club are happy with the player.
Having arrived on loan from AS Roma in the last summer window, Olsen has been a back-up option for the Premier League club this season. The 31-year-old has made nine appearances, but has been out of contention recently with an injury.
That’s seen 21-year-old João Virgínia given a chance in Ancelotti’s side, and he hasn’t let himself down. The Portuguese stopper is very ambitious and spoke to his home country’s media last week to tell them his aims for a successful career with Everton.
Should that scenario look likely then there’s a possibility Ancelotti could decide that Virgínia would be a sufficient number two next season.
That would see Olsen leave, and Spain’s Fichajes report he could go to Valencia. As far as they see it, Everton aren’t too concerned about keeping the Roma owned player beyond this campaign and it’s not thought a transfer would be difficult.
Valencia would look to buy Olsen for just €2.5m and then sell Jasper Cillessen elsewhere for a higher fee, meaning it would help their finances.
