Once again showing his use under Antonio Conte at Inter as he scored 18 minutes after coming on in the Serie A side’s 3-0 win over Genoa, Alexis Sánchez doesn’t have a future at Manchester United.

That’s been made clear by those at the Old Trafford club in recent weeks and months, but their reluctance to let him go for cheap is what’s stopping a deal from already being done.

This is what Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting on Monday, claiming the Chile international is now ‘indispensable’ for Inter, who have ‘less than 10 days’ to sort out a deal.

His last game is currently set to be against Getafe in the Europa League on August 5th, after which his loan extension will expire and he will return to Manchester United.

All at Inter are hoping that doesn’t happen, but they need to somehow overcome the ‘wall’ set by the Premier League side, who aren’t keen on strengthening a potential European opponent with another loan in their bid to lift the trophy themselves.

This tactic by Manchester United is in hope of ‘pressuring’ Inter into ‘buying Sánchez definitively’ and finally getting his hefty wages off their books.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are currently working with their English counterparts to get something done, but the two parties are still some way off a deal.

Manchester United want €20m from a sale, which is considered ‘high’ by the Suning Holdings Group, who are working at ‘getting a discount’, perhaps somewhere along the lines of €10-15m?

As for Sánchez’s wages, it’s reported that him staying on his €12m/year is simply ‘unthinkable’, especially when their biggest stars in Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen only reach €9m with the help of bonuses.

Basically, if both the player and his club are willing to ‘lower their demands’, then a move could potentially become ‘more concrete’.

Until then, however, it’s a tough ask.
