There should be a lot more news on the future of Filip Krovinovic in the coming weeks.

Loaned by Benfica to West Brom last summer, the midfielder had a good season helping the Baggies achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Since there was no buying clause in his contract, the player is now set to return to Lisbon, despite the English side’s wish to keep him.

Most of the Portuguese media writes today that West Brom should make an effort to buy Krovinovic. Newspaper A Bola even claims to know how much the Baggies are offering for him, as they’d be about to present a bid worth €10m.

That’s the same amount the club paid for the signing of Matheus Pereira, who was brought on a loan deal from Sporting, but with an option to buy, which has already been triggered.

Benfica have just changed managers, with Jorge Jesus replacing Bruno Lage. And until the new coach fully settles into his role, Krovinovic doesn’t know if he’s wanted in Lisbon or not.

The player talked a little about it in an interview with Croatian website Vecernji at the weekend.

“I don’t know yet. The championship has just ended and we have not yet started negotiations. The situation in Benfica has changed a bit, coach Lage, who didn’t use me, left, and if he had stayed at the club, I would surely have been even closer to staying in England.

“There is no clause in my loan agreement according to which WBA can buy me out, so not everything is under my control if the new coach Jesus wants to keep me.”

Even though Krovinovic sounds neutral about his future, A Bola still writes that his wish is to stay at West Brom to play the Premier League next season.
