It’s not surprising that Bruno Fernandes’ name has been a constant subject on Portuguese TV shows, and with the end of the Premier League transfer window getting closer, the expectation about his future only gets bigger.

On Tuesday, former Sporting captain Manuel Fernandes has spoken to Sport TV, and ended up encouraging the 24-year-old to make a move to England. Especially to Manchester United.

A couple of websites cover his quotes, and since there are different versions doing the rounds, we’ve translated both of them.

According to A Bola, Manuel Fernandes said: “Bruno Fernandes deserves everything. He has been with Sporting for two years, he has done an extraordinary job. I don’t know whether or not it’s true that he is going to Manchester United, but for him to leave it must be for a European colossus. Bruno deserves it.”

And as posted on Rádio Renascença’s website, the quotes were: “Bruno deserves everything, he’s excited the fans in these two years. He has done a great job, Manchester are a great club and he deserves a great club, a European colossus.”

Speaking of Bruno Fernandes’ price, the former captain has claimed that Sporting are doing right by waiting for clubs to pay for the right price.

“I think he’s worth it. Varandas did well to wait and not sell for any price. He waited for the 70 million he wanted so badly, and it couldn’t be otherwise.”

Regarding these quotes, Rádio Renascença and A Bola comment that Manuel Fernandes speaks about the transfer as if it had already been done.

Manuel Fernandes has also claimed that Bruno is already showing some signs of discomfort with the situation, and that’s why he didn’t do so well in the 5-0 defeat to Benfica.

“I think in the game against Benfica it already noticed, because in that first half, the Bruno I know would have scored two goals. I believe there was some disturbance there. But while he was with us he’s always been an exemplary professional.”
