This morning, Catalan newspaper Sport featured a story about Barcelona’s interest in Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez.

That’s a rumour which has been growing recently, and this piece said the player himself would welcome that type of operation.

It turns out that the Argentine media now claims that Barcelona will get some heavy competition for the signing. According to journalist Sebastian Srur, Real Madrid also want the Manchester City player.

Since the full report was made on Radio Continental, there aren’t many details on this chase so far. On Twitter, the reporter just claims the Galacticos also want Alvarez, who doesn’t have a release clause at the Premier League side.

Real Madrid are said to be looking for a centre-forward, and since Alvarez has the competition of Erling Haaland at Manchester City, a move to the Santiago Bernabéu could end up sounding quite attractive to him.

In case all those recent reports are true, then we shall see a big Spanish battle for the striker soon. And the most important thing to this story will be the stance that Pep Guardiola’s side will hold regarding his potential sale.
