Real Betis are hoping Leeds United do not get promoted from the Championship this season, so they take the ‘cheap route’ to sign Marc Roca once again.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who explain there are two transfer options for the Spanish side in regard to Roca this summer.

The midfielder joined the club on loan from Leeds in the summer transfer window, taking advantage of a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave on loan following relegation.

The deal includes an option to make the move permanent for €12m but, despite Roca establishing himself as a key player under Manuel Pellegrini, Betis are yet to activate it.

That’s due to the delicate financial situation at the club and their actual hope is that they can take the ‘cheap route’ to get Roca again in the summer.

That would see them signing him on loan again, something which may be possible as there is a clause in Roca’s deal allowing him to go out again if Leeds are not promoted back to the Premier League.

Their good performances in recent weeks and surge up the table into second place suggests they will be going back up, but Betis are hoping they don’t, so they can get Roca on loan once again.

If they can’t, the Spaniards have two options to get the midfielder. Either they activate the purchase clause in his current deal or renegotiate with Leeds.

Roca, for his part, is ‘delighted’ with life at the club and they are equally happy with him, so the desire is there to keep him, it’s just in what manner it happens.
