With the World Cup getting nearly all the attention from the football media, we haven’t been seeing a big buzz about the friendlies which will take place in the coming weeks.

It turns out there might be a reason for Crystal Palace to start be more curious about one of those matches, and that’s the game against Botafogo.

The clubs will play a friendly at the Selhurst Park on the 3rd of December, and the Brazilian club are getting quite excited about it.

The truth is that the season in Brazil ended last weekend, but since John Textor is a shareholder at Crystal Palace and recently purchased Botafogo, he worked for the clubs to face each other during the World Cup, so the Fogão will have a few weeks of preparation for that.

Outlet R7 today writes that the Rio de Janeiro side are expecting to turn up at ‘maximum strength’ for this friendly, almost as if they needed to prove themselves against a Premier League side, and that’s why the match may get interesting.

As previously reported by the Brazilian media, some Botafogo players are reportedly being encouraged to do well in the friendly so they may draw the attention from Crystal Palace.
