Returning to Arsenal from Marseille this summer after spending a season on loan there, William Saliba is raring to go.

Bought from Saint-Etienne as a long-term investment, the Frenchman has yet to feature in an official game for the Gunners, but the hope is that all changes this season.

Despite Marseille wanting to keep him, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta made it clear they had plans for Saliba, who is now a potential target for Barcelona.

That’s according to Gerard Romero, who took to Twitter to explain the La Liga giants have a list of players, on which the Gunners man is featured, in case they fail to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

The journalist explained that the Frenchman, Milan Skriniar, Josko Gvardiol, Iñigo Martinez and Roger Ibañez are all being considered just in case.

Now, whether Arsenal would be interested in dealing with Barcelona for Saliba is a big question mark, because unless the player pushes for that transfer specifically, they hold a lot of the cards.

That, and they would need to at least make their initial investment back + a bit more, since he’s now a better player after getting his first France caps last season.
