Sporting midfielder William Carvalho is reportedly set to receive compensation after the club turned down a bid from West Bromwich.
The player currently earns €1.5m per season, so this is a huge boost in his income. His contract, which has a €45m release clause and expires in 2020, should not be changed.
William Carvalho has another clause in his contract which says that in case Sporting turn down an offer of above €35m paid up front, they must also compensate the player with a €5m amount.
This time, A Bola doesn’t mention the name of the English club who tried to sign him this summer and say it hasn’t reached the €35m figure.
But West Brom have been mentioned as this bidder quite a few times, with O Jogo saying they offered €30m plus €5m in bonuses.
As the Baggies didn’t say they’d pay it all in once, that clause wasn’t triggered, but Sporting will make sure to make their player remains happy anyway.
