Fotomac claim Galatasaray are on the verge of signing Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva, with both parties now hoping to agree on the player’s wages before making the deal official.
The Turkish newspaper report Lucas wants €4m per year from Galatasaray, but the Turkish giants insist they are only willing to offer him €2.8m, and it’s expected an agreement would be found somewhere in the middle. It’s also been reported Galatasaray and the Liverpool midfielder have agreed for the deal to be three years.
Galatasaray targeted the 30-year old throughout the last summer window but Lucas decided to stay at Liverpool after talks with Jurgen Klopp. Lucas will be out of contract at the end of June and Fotomac claim initial talks with the player were very positive.
They report Lucas’ family are no longer afraid of living in Turkey because they believe the country is now safer.
Lucas has been a fringe player at Liverpool for most of this season, but has made over 300 appearances for the club in total.
The Brazilian recently celebrated 10 years with Liverpool and he is the longest serving player in Klopp’s squad.
If and when Galatasaray reach and agreement with Lucas, they can announce the player’s arrival, given his contract status.
