Idrissa Gana Gueye’s return to Everton is being held up by Paris Saint Germain chief Antero Henrique, who is demanding the Blues pay a fee for the midfielder.

That’s according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who provides an update on Gueye’s situation today.

The midfielder is on the list of ‘undesirables’ in the current PSG squad, a group of players the club are determined to move on before the end of the window.

He’s subsequently been linked with a return to Everton and negotiations have been underway for weeks to make that happen.

Everton have been growing frustrated with the situation, especially with it known they already have an agreement in place with the player and it is PSG holding things up.

Hawkins backs that up, explaining that Porting and Sporting are also interested in Gueye and Henrique would be willing to let the player join either side for free.

However, that is not the case for Everton, who he ‘wants a transfer’ fee from if Gueye is to make the move. It seems it is that which is holding things up.

Interestingly there is no mention of Porto or Sporting being interested in Gueye in Portugal, which is strange as he’d be a big signing and the media are very close to those clubs.

Instead, this sounds like Henrique playing games in an attempt to get Everton to pay a fee, perhaps more than they are willing to offer at this moment in time.
