Malmo sporting director Daniel Andersson has told the Swedish media he won’t comment on whether his club are interested in Celtic defender Mikael Lustig.

The Celtic man has been linked with a move to the Swedish club following recent claims AIK are also showing an interest. However, it’s reported Malmo have made a better offer than their Allsvenskan rivals.

Last month we covered comments made by the Sweden international in which he’s spoken to Brendan Rodgers about his future at Celtic Park.

Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Andersson was asked whether Malmo would pursue the Celtic player: “I do not usually comment on players who do not belong to Malmo, and I won’t this time either. It’s free to speculate. Then I don’t want to comment on that either. He belongs to Celtic and so I don’t think it’s okay to talk about other club’s players.”

In November there were reports in Sweden that Lustig was being lined up for a move to AIK after claims Seb Larsson was trying to persuade him to join the Swedish champions. The Celtic right back played down these rumours, stating he, by chance, went on a night out with his international teammate whilst on a trip to Stockholm.

Celtic have the option to extend the Swede’s contract for another season, but they may choose not to activate this if they brought in a replacement.
