Borussia Dortmund can now ‘easily pay’ the money they owe Manchester United for Jadon Sancho, thanks to the forward having helped them qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

That’s according to BILD, who say Sancho’s performance and goal may have just helped the German side to afford bringing him back in the first place.

They explain that Dortmund’s 2-0 win over PSV Eindhoven this week and qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League has had an extra benefit as it’s secured the club €10.6m in extra, unforeseen revenue.

That was money Dortmund had not budgeted for and means they can now ‘easily pay’ the €4m fee they agreed to when signing Sancho on loan from Manchester United in January.

Ironically, he was a key part of that money coming in, with his superb solo goal putting his side in front and pushing them towards the win that was only made comfortable by Marco Reus’ late strike.

It was his first goal in the competition for 841 days and he led from the front, in what was arguably one of Dortmund’s better performances this season.

Indeed, BILD report the first half an hour was the best they’ve had all season and Sancho was a key part of that.

His goal made the difference and ultimately paved the way for qualification, which has now brought in an added €10.6m and even paid for his own loan deal in the process.

Whether it’s the start of a new beginning for the Manchester United loanee, and even a permanent move in the summer, remains to be seen but Dortmund can at least point to this moment having made the whole affair worthwhile so far.
