It’s no secret that Crystal Palace shareholder John Textor has been involved in a big controversy in Brazil, where he loves going public to talk about league issues.

The Botafogo owner recently claimed he has proof of corruption among local referees, and that didn’t go well, as Palmeiras announced they’re suing him for those accusations.

Now as ESPN Brasil journalist Gian Oddi features a piece on Textor’s recent attitudes, he questions why the businessman doesn’t behave in Brazil the same way he does in Europe.

It’s pointed out that while in charge of Lyon and Crystal Palace, he’s even been criticised for his lack of appearances, as he’s not as present as at Botafogo.

Oddi claims that Eagles’ fans are often seeing focusing their criticism and frustrations at Steve Parish, with Textor managing to dodge the pressure by not drawing the spotlight.

He’s then criticised for behaving that way ‘only in Brazil’, where he’s often speaking to the media and asking for cameras to show his rants.

That’s why Crystal Palace and Lyon fans may be surprised to see how different his behaviour is in South America when he is there compared to his relative shyness when it comes to his European football investments.
