Following Manchester City’s scouting mission for the Grêmio forward Everton last Wednesday, the Brazilian club have reportedly accelerated the process to give the player a new contract.
As reported by Globo Esporte today, the renewal has been negotiated for months, and the offer is now with the player’s agent.
Grêmio are looking to give Everton a pay raise, along with an increase in the release clause, in order to protect him from the European interest.
The word at Grêmio is that Everton is non-negotiable, but in case a very good bid arrives, then the club will think about it.
A few months ago, local outlet UOL claimed that the player’s release clause was €30m, and Grêmio were looking to increase it to €50m.
