CNN Turk have claimed Aston Villa owned left back Aly Cissokho is very close to securing a move to Goztepe. The Turkish side are looking to build a strong squad in their first season back in the top flight for 14 years.

After his loan spell at Olympiacos last season, Cissokho returned to Aston Villa, but it seems he’s surplus to requirements at Villa Park under Steve Bruce. The Aston Villa outcast’s experience in Greece could be seen as a factor for Goztepe manager Tamer Tuna as he looks to bring in new recruits this summer.

It’s been reported Cissokho’s move to Goztepe could be made official soon, with there being an eagerness from Goztepe to get things done. The player is now expected to travel to Turkey to check out the club’s training facilities before signing a contract.

Cissokho played ten games for Olympiacos in all competitions last season, but the Greek giants rejected the chance make his move permanent. The 29-year-old is contracted to Aston Villa until June 2018, and it’s clear the Frenchman no longer has a future with the Championship side.
