Tottenham want to ‘take advantage’ of the developing situation around Ansu Fati in an effort to beat the competition to the Barcelona forward.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say Spurs are working hard to ensure they win the race for Fati now that he’s decided to leave Barcelona.

Fati has had a change of heart regarding his future at the Nou Camp today, electing to leave rather than stay and fight for his place and causing a late race for his signature.

Mundo say he is set to attend a final training session with the Catalans today, all the while waiting on the phone after he gave his agent, Jorge Mendes, via his father, instructions to finish deciding on his departure.

There are numerous offers on the table for him, but it is currently Tottenham who are ‘ahead’ of the competition.

According to Mundo, Ange Postecoglou has a ‘starring role in mind’ for the player and Tottenham are hoping that can convince him to join them despite a lack of European competition on offer.

The Australian is seemingly a big fan of Fati after seeing him score against his side in a pre-season friendly and has worked out a strategy to ensure he is one of the stars should he arrive.

That’s currently up in the air and likely to be dragged out right until deadline day, but at this point, Tottenham have put themselves out in front.

The idea that Tottenham are in the lead is also backed up by Sport, who explain that Barcelona’s current transfer plans are in the hands of Jorge Mendes, with Spurs having a ‘certain advantage’ over the competition.
