It ‘would be no surprise’ if defender Jordan Beyer were to ‘push for’ a permanent move to Burnley in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Rheinische Post, who say that there is every chance Beyer will want to make his time with Vincent Kompany’s side a longer one.

Beyer joined Burnley on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer, arriving as one of numerous new signings in an overhaul at Turf Moor.

He proved to be an instant hit at the club, establishing himself as a key player in the heart of Kompany’s defence and making 17 appearances in the Championship so far.

Burnley fans have already taken to labelling him as BeckenBeyer, a reference to German legend Franz Beckenbauer and a clear sign of the high esteem they hold him in.

They want the player to stay beyond the summer but the major problem is that Burnley failed to negotiate a purchase option into the original loan deal.

That’s already led to claims that any negotiations over a permanent deal are likely to prove to be expensive, although it seems they may be aided by Beyer.

According to RP, Gladbach were ‘threatened’ with the prospect of Beyer not developing as planned if he had stayed at the club this season, hence his loan to Burnley.

The problem for them now is that he has come on leaps and bounds in the Championship and it is unlikely he will want to end that in the summer, particularly if they are promoted to the Premier League.

In fact, the belief is that it ‘would be no surprise’ if he were to ‘push for a permanent move’ to the United Kingdom at the end of the season.

That would certainly play into Burnley’s hands, who are sure to want to keep him and may be wise to start those negotiations far ahead of the next transfer window.
