Umar Sadiq will likely leave Rangers in the January transfer, reports Calciomercato.

Arriving from AS Roma on a season long loan spell in the summer window, Sadiq hasn’t managed to show the best of his talents.

Italy’s Calciomercato reports that unless something surprising happens between now and the winter window, Sadiq will be cutting his loan shirt having failed to impress in the Scottish Premiership.

Steven Gerrard has spoken about the 21 year old’s failure to get game time at Rangers, and the club’s manager has made it very clear that it’s all down to Sadiq.

Quoted by the BBC, Gerrard explained: “You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work out that he is going to have to improve if he is to earn some game time.

“I think everybody at Rangers has done everything they can and the fans have got behind him. It can’t just be given to you, not at a club like this. So it’s over to Umar, the ball is in his court.”

This is Sadiq’s fourth loan away from Roma since signing for the Italian club in 2016. The first two, to Torino and Bologna, didn’t go very well, but the striker had a better spell at NAC Breda for the second half of last season.

Unless there’s a break clause, all parties would have to agree to end the loan early.
