Fotospor report Turkish club Medipol Basaksehir were showing an interest in Leicester City forward Islam Slimani in the summer, but they decided not to sign him.

It’s reported Basaksehir were offered the chance to loan Slimani, but his poor form for Fenerbahce last season scared them off. Instead the Super Lig side decided to strengthen their squad with Enzo Crivelli and Fredrik Gulbrandsen.

Despite his terrible spell with Fenerbahce, the Leicester City owned player was said to be open to staying in Turkey for one more year and Fotospor claim Basaksehir’s potential offer was financially very pleasing.

However, it’s reported the Turkish club didn’t want to take any risks as they already have some underperforming players in their squad.

The Algerian striker has made an excellent start to his AS Monaco career, scoring four goals and providing the same number of assists in just five league games for Leonardo Jardim’s side.

Considering he scored just one league goal for Fenerbahce for last season, it seems he’s found the form which prompted Leicester to sign him from Sporting Lisbon, and now Medipol Basaksehir likely have some regret.
