Chelsea winger Willian has been interviewed by ESPN Brasil ahead of the Europa League final against Arsenal this week.
Like most of the interviews by this time of the year, Willian has recalled his season for Chelsea, saying he had good stats, but hopes to improve for the next campaign.
“My season was good. It wasn’t my best, because I know I can do a lot more. Overall I think I was good for the goals scored and assists made. I hope I can improve a lot more next season”, Willian told ESPN Brasil.
On the final against Arsenal, the Brazilian said: “No doubt it will be a special game and very difficult, because it’s a London derby. It will be a different game and it will certainly be one of the more disputed finals precisely because it involves a historical rivalry.
“They are two big clubs, from the same country, from the same city and rivals that will be fighting for the title of the Europa League. This makes the final even more special”.
He said: “Meeting him in a final is also something very special for me. He’s a world idol, an idol at Chelsea, where he has won many titles and the respect of everyone, is a great goalkeeper and a great professional, anyway…
“No doubt it will be very cool to be able to face him. But, as I said, he is an exemplary guy, one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and it will certainly be very difficult to score, but I hope we can win the title.”
Willian couldn’t avoid being asked about Eden Hazard. He was quizzed if this would be the last game the Belgian international is having for the Blues.
“About Hazard I don’t know if it will be his last match for Chelsea”, he said, “but everyone knows that he’s very important to the club and to the squad, and if he really leaves, it will be a great loss for the team because he is a different player.”
Willian had eight goals and 14 assists in 55 appearances for Chelsea this season. The player, however, has been left out of Brazil’s squad for the Copa America this year.
