Sheffield United are fighting for the last spot to secure promotion to the Premier League, a year after dropping to the second division.

On Monday, Sheffield United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Burnley and this saw the Clarets and Leeds United promoted to the top division.

Sheffield United are currently third in the table and have to win the Championship play-off to return to the Premier League. That could be vital for the Blades to win it to retain Vinícius Souza.

That’s at least what Brazilian journalist Rafael Reis writes in his column for UOL. He claims the defensive midfielder could look for new opportunities in the summer window if Chris Wilder’s side continue in the Championship.

Reis makes no mention of where the 25-year-old could move or if there’s been interest so far from elsewhere.

He claims the Brazilian has improved his game recently and become a ‘more complete’ player at Sheffield United. This could help him look for a new club if his side fail to get promoted.

Vinícius Souza’s contract expires in 2027, and back in January, ESPN in Brazil reported Palmeiras have looked at him for the Club World Cup in June.
