Chelsea are best placed to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the window closes, according to AS

The operation has not been completed yet and Thomas Tuchel isn’t pleased with the delay in concluding a deal for the 33-year-old.

AS doesn’t provide an insight over why Chelsea have failed to convince the La Liga side to let go of the forward.

Barcelona are open to letting him leave the Camp Nou as it will help them raise funds and lower their wage bill, which is needed to make new signings.

Sport explain the Gabon international has ‘reached a full agreement with Chelsea’ for a three-year deal. The latter have to find one with the La Liga side to complete his signing.

The Blues’ official offer included €15m plus Marcos Alonso in exchange for the ex-Arsenal man.

This proposal was refused by the Catalan club, even though they are interested in the left-back. They would accept €20m plus bonuses for Aubameyang, but the west London club, for now, are not willing to meet this request.

Barcelona want to treat these two operations separately since it can allow them to make cash through Aubameyang’s sale. Chelsea haven’t understood this position and the talks between the two clubs ‘remain stalled’.

Due to Tuchel’s ‘total interest to have the footballer as soon as possible’, the operation could be reactivated. Sport state it is possible the two clubs could find the middle ground, with an offer that doesn’t reach €20m with variables.
