Chelsea’s Bertrand Traore signed for Ajax on loan at the start of the season, and has 5 goals and 4 assists to his name so far. Despite that Traore has been facing a lot of criticism, and there have been calls to drop him from the starting XI.

Traore spent the 2014/15 season on loan at Vitesse, and his former coach, Rob Maas, has been speaking to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

Maas says Traore showed ‘unprecedented’ abilities at Vitesse, and was clearly one of the more impressive loan players which Chelsea sent to the Eredivisie club.

He said: “When I saw him for the first time, I thought, look at him go… But at the first training session he showed unprecedented things. I really never forget.”

Maas insists the Chelsea loanee needs to to play regularly to keep improving, and dropping him isn’t an option. He added: “Dropping him isn’t an option. Why not? Because as a 21-year-old he can only learn by playing a lot.”

Traore has another three years left on his contract at Chelsea, and will certainly hoping to impress Chelsea during his loan spell at the Dutch giants.

Chelsea have long held high hopes for Traore but it remains to be seen if he’s one of the very few to get a genuine chance or he’s an eternal loan ranger before leaving the club.
