Diego Costa was heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in the summer, but it always looked unlikely that Chelsea would want to get rid of him, despite the Spanish international not being in top form last season.

With 10 goals and 4 assists to his name this season, Costa has been very impressive under new manager Antonio Conte.

Even though it’s even unlikelier Chelsea would consider selling him in the near future, reports in the Italian media link him with a shock move to Inter.

Inter’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, has been speaking to Premium Sports (via Calciomercato), ahead of their match against Fiorentina, which Inter later won 4-2.

Ausilio was asked about the possibility of signing Costa in the near future, but he dismissed those rumours saying it’s ‘absurd’ as they already have a prolific goalscorer in Mauro Icardi.

He said: “To talk about this is absurd, we already have a very strong centre forward. We will try to evaluate the positions we feel need strengthening.”

As things stand, it doesn’t even matter if Inter or any other club are interested in Costa, as Antonio Conte wouldn’t want to lose a proven Premier League striker.
